Details

This person is at the start of each race and blows the air horn acknowledging the start of that race. The Starter must coordinate the starting of the race with the Time Keeper and Results Keeper so everyone is in the right place and accurate time is kept. In addition, the starter should make sure all kids have their shoes tied and their names (last name, first initial) on the tear-off portion of the race bib. They should also remind the kids of our Code of Conduct, confirm they know where the course goes and where to turn before blowing the starting horn.

Line up kids single file in finish line chute in order they cross finish line to prep for bib tear off.

Bib-Tearer High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

This is usually the Community Coordinator. This person is responsible for tearing off the race bibs as the runners come through the finish line chute. They will place the ripped off numbers (results) onto the clip ring in order from first to last. Later that night, these will be paired with the time-sheet that the Volunteer Recorder kept for each specific race except the 50 Yard Dash/75 Yard Dashes.
